St. John’s Wort

Method of Extraction

St. John’s Wort is a shrub with pale green leaves and yellow flowers with the genus name HypericumPerforatum. It is extracted through cold-pressing.
It was named after St. John the Baptist, since it’s usually in full bloom around June 24, the saint’s feast day. It owes its origins to Europe particularly Spain and France but has spread to the Americas, Asia and the Middle East.

Cons

If you are on birth control it must be noted that, taking St. John’s oil may decrease the effectiveness of the contraceptive pills. Birth control pills interact with St. John’s Wort,you may need to use an additional birth control method to avid unwanted pregnancy.
For people with Alzheimer’s disease, there is worry that St. John’s Wort might lead to dementia following this; it may not be used on such people.
