Psycho Aroma Diagnostics. The Main Method.

Psychosomatic relates to a physical disorder that is caused by or notably influenced by emotional factors. Diagnosing the mental status of a person can be helped by the use of essential oils. In aromatherapy it is based on the selection of your favorite essential oils arranged according to the degree of pleasantness. It is done to determine the individual course of aromatherapy with the aim of improving the psychosomatic state of the individual. In this articles I give basic information to define your own psychological state.
The main means of aroma technology is the use of a set of essential oils that are relaxing, adapting, stimulating, harmonizing and stabilizing. For example, I often use a minimal set which consists of essential oils with relaxing ylang-ylang or chamomile, adaptogenic bergamot or juniper, stimulating ginger or lemongrass, harmonizing incense and stabilizing emotions rose. If your set has about 15-20 aromatherapy essential oils, mix 2-3 oils from each group to influence your psychosomatic condition. Choosing essential oils for your own aromatherapy kit is based on the main effects of the essential oils below.

TECHNIQUE

To choose the correct essential oils for your client (or yourself) you must first decide the main issues of the person being aromatized. Example: if the client feels constant fatigue or weakness you should offer essential oils in descending order of importance with the objectives of impact. Example: to stimulate, adapting, harmonizing, relaxing and stabilizing emotions. If the client is stressed or having anxiety after stress the supply of oil goes in the order of adaptogen, relaxant, stabilizing emotions, harmonizing and stimulating, etc.
The person to be aromatized selects an oil by smell, intuition, and on feeling the impact. Each person experiences it differently. Each time the person selects an oil it is placed according to the degree of pleasantness. At this point, oil which is similar will occupy the first place and so on according to the degree of reduction of the essential oil amenities. Accordingly, your minimum set should be five oils that are located in five places.
According to the selected places you can make a diagnosis. First determine the value and characteristics of each oil in the order of the selected location:
First place – the properties of essential oils determine the basic offense that is relevant at the time of the consultation. Usually this problem is recognized by the client and tells about it.
Second place – completes the description of the first problem as shown in the second layer of an underlying problem and points to the next phase of the impact to date of aromatherapy.
Third place – usually it is the third, and deepest level of the problem. In fact, it is the level of the unconscious causes of the patient’s condition.
Fourth and fifth places have an additional value, specifying the degree of the violation.
The degree of impairment is assessed in points according to the placement of the essential oil:
1st place – 5 points
2nd place – 4 points
3rd place – 3 points
4th place – 2 points
5th place – 1 point
The number of points is assigned to the direction of the impact based on the characteristics of the essential oil with a high degree equal to the number of points of designated essential oils. The average is reduced by half. The low degree of impact is generally not considered. The impact of specific essential oils can be seen in the table above.
Suppose the first place is essential oil of lavender. Look in the table. Lavender has a relaxing effect to a great extent (5 points), adaptogenic effect of moderate (5:2 = 2.5 points), a stimulating effect of moderate (5:2 = 2.5 points). Depending on the location and extent of the effect of the appropriate essential oils, you can calculate where the impact on the psyche of the client will be most significant.
Note: Good to aromatize every time you change the course of aromatherapy. The reason is because our mental state can vary considerably (especially for labile psyche). Before adjusting the course of aromatherapy, you should first undertake a course of aromatherapy for about a month and a half to look at changes in the human condition.

Example:
The client complains of weakness or fatigue.

Presentation of the essential oil are put in order:
1st place – bergamot
2nd place – ginger
3rd place – rose
4th place – daisy
5th place – incense

Count the points:

Adaptogen – 6.5 points
bergamot –high degree, 5 points;
ginger – low degree, 0 points;
rose – low degree, 0 points;
chamomile – average degree, 2:2 = 1 point;
frankincense – medium degree, 1:2 = 0.5 points

Stimulator – 9 points
Bergamot – average degree, 5:2 = 2.5 points;
ginger – high degree, 4 points;
rose – medium degree, 3:2 = 1.5 points;
chamomile – average degree, 2:2 = 1 point)

Relaxant – 3.5 points
bergamot – low degree, 0 points;
ginger – low degree, 0 points;
rose – medium degree, 3:2 = 1.5 points;
chamomile – high degree, 2 points

Stabilizer of emotions – rose (3 points)

Harmonizing – frankincense (1 point)

So, let’s analyze the results.
Despite the fact that the client first selected an adaptogen, we received the highest amount of 9 points for the stimulating effect of the essential oils that just fit under the main complaints of the client and is the basis of the impact of the prescribed course of aromatherapy.
Adaptogenic effect of essential oils is also very important to the client, so the score is 6.5 points. This suggests that the second layer of the problem lies exactly in the plane of the problems with adaptation. It is possible that the client is in a chronic state of stress, which was not noticed, or was recently stressed, or perhaps forgotten or displaced into the subconscious.
Conclusion 1: For the client stimulation and adaptation are almost to the same extent, especially that bergamot is a strong adaptogen and is a moderate stimulant.
The effects of relaxation and stabilizing emotions took third in 3, 5 and 3 points respectively. In fact, it means that the client is not conscience to the need of relaxation and stabilizing emotions when the first problems will be settled. This is so-called deep layer problems.
Conclusion 2: In the course of aromatherapy for the client, tools for relaxation and stabilization of emotions should be added, but it should be secondary structures, for example, at night or sometimes in addition to means of stimulation and adaptation.
In the next part we’ll talk about the express psychosomatic method based on the choice of one or two essential oils. In a separate part of this article or in a separate article we will talk about compiling recipes for the correction of the mental state.
Good luck!
