Recipes for Care of the Skin of the Body. Part III. Properties of Essential Oils.

The following are the properties of different essential oils that you can use to formulate recipes for skin care. This information is given as to skin type. Remember the basic rule of aromatherapy that only oils of lavender and tea tree can be used without the basics. Rules of using other essential oils and proportions of them to different type bases refer to parts of the methods of application of aromatherapy in the article “AROMATHERAPY APPLICATION METHODS’ GUIDE” in the first and second parts of this article.

Anise: For loose and saggy skin. Used for wrinkles. Also used against lice and scabies. It is recommended as a remedy of infectious skin diseases.

Orange: For any type of skin care. Good for oily skin. Especially recommended for sensitive and tired skin. Very good for toning the skin. Apply for water retention and cellulite, eliminates toxins. Helps treat dermatitis. Is used for infants and children.

Basil: To open up the pores. Refreshes and tones sluggish and swollen skin.

Benzoin: A good remedy for chapped and dry skin. Makes the skin more elastic. Softens chapped skin and dry cracked skin (e.g. heels). Recommended for inflammation, irritation and itching of the skin, and in ulcers and abscesses.

Bergamot: For any type of skin care. Used in normal, mixed and oily skin. Can be used on irritated skin. Recommended for acne, boils, herpes, seborrhea and herpes zoster. Used for wound healing. In combination with eucalyptus helps heal skin ulcers.

Immortelle: Used for chapped skin, burns and inflamed skin. Helps with resorption of scars. In combination with bergamot, lavender and yarrow oil it is used to treat psoriasis.

Vetiver: For ageing skin. Effective for pimples.

Geranium: For any type of skin care because it controls the secretion of the sebaceous glands. Used for normal and oily skin. Especially recommended for dry and/or aging skin and for moisturizing any skin type. Good cleanser. Activating the blood flow, gives a healthy glow to pale skin. Used in abscesses, ulcers, boils, pimples and acne. Good to heal burns. It is recommended for cellulite. Used in cases of dry eczema and psoriasis.

Grapefruit: Helps with fatty and edematous skin. Used for spots.

Jasmine: For any type of skin care. Particularly used for sensitive skin. Especially recommended for moisturizing. Used for inflamed skin and itching. In mixture with oils of mandarin and lavender and used to strengthen the elasticity of the skin in areas of stretch marks and scarring.

Ylang-ylang: For any type of skin care. It helps to control the balance of fat. and is recommended for dry and oily skin.

Keepout: Good for spots. Helps with chronic skin diseases, particularly acne or psoriasis.

Calendula: Recommended for pimples, ulcers and abscesses. Good for burns. Used for wound healing.

Camphor: Recommended for mixed skin and wrinkles.

Cedar: For any type of skin care. Is used for dry, normal and oily skin. Good effect on swollen skin. Used to soften the skin in combination with cypress and incense oils Used for pimples and acne. Recommended for irritated and itchy skin. Used for dermatitis, wet eczema and psoriasis.

Cypress: Used for oily, it helps to maintain fluid balance in the tissues of mature and aging skin, especially recommended for wrinkles. Good effect on swollen skin. Used with sweating skin. Particularly used for skin affected by cellulite, combined with geranium and fennel oils. Used for seborrhea. Also recommended for rupture of small capillaries under the skin and varicose veins. Promotes the healing of wounds.

Lavender: For any type of skin care. Is used for dry, normal, combination, oily and aging skin. It has a balancing effect on sebum. Especially recommended for skin with spots, inflamed and chapped. Used in almost all types of skin problems. Used in abscesses, boils, ulcers, boils, pimples, acne, wounds due to suppuration and seborrhea. Especially recommended for burns of any type, including solar, and for wound healing. One of the best remedies to promotes healing. Very good for inflamed and itching skin. Used in combination with other essential oils for eczema and psoriasis.

Incense: Used for oily skin. Rejuvenates skin and smoothes wrinkles. Especially recommended for inflamed skin and healing wounds.

Lemongrass: A good tonic for the skin. Contributes to the disclosure and cleanse the pores.

Lemon: For any type of skin care. Used for oily and/or tired skin. Especially recommended for skin with spots and freckles (has a bleaching effect) and to open up the pores. Often used for pimples and boils. It is recommended for itching of the skin, seborrhea and psoriasis. Good effect on the skin for sunburn. Popular means of removal of calluses, growths and warts. Softens scar tissue.

Marjoram: Stimulates the bloodstream.

Mandarin: Often combined with essential oils of neroli and lavender oils for resorption of scar.

Melissa (lemon mint): For any type of skin care. Recommended for cases of allergic reactions on the skin. Used in weeping eczema, herpes and shingles.

Mira: For ageing skin. Used for itching skin and wet eczema. It is recommended for normal healing and infected wounds.

Myrtle: For any type of skin care. Can be used for spots. Good effect on swollen skin. Dissolves hematoma. Reduces typical for peeling skin of psoriasis.

Juniper: Great toner for oily skin. Helps to open and cleanse pores. Good for almost all types of skin problems. Used for spots, acne and seborrhea. Especially recommended for cellulite and to effectively remove toxins. Widely used for inflamed skin, including dermatitis and wet eczema. It is also used for skin affected by varicose veins. Can be used for wound healing.

Peppermint: For oily and/or rough skin. Recommended for inflamed skin and itching.

Neroli: For any type of skin care. Recommended for normal, dry, sensitive and mature skin. Promotes regeneration of skin cells and improve its elasticity. It is especially recommended for smoothing wrinkles. Used when wounds due to suppuration, and also for broken capillaries under the skin.

Niaouli: Good for inflamed skin and boils.

Palmarosa: Useful for dry skin, as vosstanavlivaet fluid balance and stimulates natural secretion of sebum.

Patchouli: Recommended for flabby, aging and chapped skin. Good effect on swollen skin. Can be used for spots. Used for inflamed skin and itching. Recommended with weeping eczema.

Rose: For any type of skin care. Used for normal, dry and oily skin, and for pore cleansing. Especially recommended for aging and tired skin. Good effect on inflamed skin. Applied for redness of the skin due to damage of capillary vessels. Is used for infants and children.

Rosemary: For oily and/or tired skin. Having a strong toning and firming effect, revitalizes the sagging skin and removes puffiness and odutlovatost. Recommended for use on skin spots. Used for herpes. Is used for healing normal and infected wounds.

Rose tree: For any type of skin care. Recommended for normal, dry, sensitive and inflamed skin. Rejuvenates aging and wrinkled skin. Promotes healing of cuts and other skin injuries.

Chamomile: It is recommended for normal healing and infected wounds, burns, ulcers and abscesses. Good to use in case of allergic reactions on the skin, irritation and itching of the skin. Recommended for dermatitis, herpes and psoriasis.

Chamomile: Recommended for dry, normal, combination and tired skin. Used in abscesses, boils, ulcers and boils. Good to use in case of allergic reactions on the skin, irritation and itching of the skin, damage to the small vessels of the skin. Recommended for dermatitis, herpes and psoriasis. Used for healing of infected wounds. Is used for infants and children.

Sandalwood: For any type of skin care. Used for oily and/or chapped skin. Especially recommended for dry skin and hydration, as well as problems of inflamed skin and itching. Especially useful for dry eczema. Promotes healing of infected wounds. In combination with coconut oil has very good effect on the skin of the neck.

Carrot seed: Improves the complexion, tones, hydrates and rejuvenates the skin making it more elastic. Used in chapped skin. It is especially recommended for smoothing wrinkles. The strongest softening and moisturizing the skin essential oil.

Pine: A good tonic. Has a beneficial effect on swollen skin. Effective for eczema and psoriasis. Promotes healing of wounds.

Thyme: Good for skin covered with any type of stain. Used for boils. Recommended for wound healing. Helps with dermatitis.

Fennel: For flabby and aging skin. Especially recommended for skin with wrinkles, as well as for skin affected by cellulite (eliminates toxins and fluid).

Tea tree: Skin covered with any type of spots, in particular purifies the skin after chicken pox and shingles. Used for acne and herpes. Soothes inflamed skin. Applied for burns, including solar. Recommended for such skin diseases, as ulcers, ringworm and warts.

Garlic: Recommended for abscesses, ulcers and boils. Is used to heal infected wounds and sores. Able to remove corns and warts.

Sage: Recommended for flabby and tired skin and for skin covered with stains. Used in abscesses, ulcers and boils. Recommended for cellulite. Good effect on the skin for sunburn. Used for wound healing. Can improve the condition of skin ulcers, dermatitis and psoriasis.

Clary sage: For any type of skin care. Used for flaccid and tired skin. It is also effective for swollen and puffy skin. Recommended for inflamed skin and boils. It has been successful when used as an aid for seizure disorders. It can also be used as an aid for children with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder. Children under age 6 years old should not use clary sage as a dietary supplement. Avoid using on infants and very small children.

Eucalyptus: Used in abscesses, ulcers, boils and herpes. Used for inflamed skin.
